Position Summary
As the Director of Sales & Marketing, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic sales initiatives that drive revenue, strengthen our brand reputation, and support long-term business objectives. You’ll oversee a small team (including managing third-party contractors), manage key client relationships, and collaborate closely with hotel leadership to ensure exceptional service and profitability across all properties.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership
- Manage and execute daily sales activities
- Train colleagues to make sure they hit hotel revenue goals to the standards we expect and have the tools they need to work effectively
- Create a collaborative environment where departments work as one unified team
- Interact with outside contacts: guests, vendors, and other contacts as needed
- Develop and maintain great working relationships with key clients and outside contacts to increase revenue
Revenue & Financial Performance
- Develop and implement sales and revenue strategies that drive occupancy, group business, and average daily rate (ADR)
- Contribute to the development of annual departmental budgets and the overall marketing and business plan
- Produce monthly reports and sales forecasts to analyze current/potential market and sales trends, coordinate activities to increase revenue and market share and monitor performance to ensure actual sales meet or exceed established revenue plan
- Create and develop special events and sales blitzes to showcase the hotel to potential clients.
- Attend trade shows and major market events locally and nationally to promote new business and increase sales and marketing opportunities for the hotel.
- Understand and track performance against KPI’s
Guest & Client Engagement
- Provide guests with information (example: loyalty programmes, area attractions, restaurants, facility information) to enhance guest experience
- Schedule conventions and/or business group activities at the hotel and coordinate with other hotel-level departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients
- Communicate to appropriate departments all pertinent information requirements and special needs for arriving VIP’s, large groups, and other key guests
- Lead marketing efforts to up sell guests on hotel services, offerings, and amenities
- Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, cold outreach, and strategic partnerships
- Planned and execute “Make your stay” initiatives to enhance guest experience and ensure personalized services
Marketing & Brand Visibility
- Identify opportunities to improve marketing efforts and overall hotel performance
- Drive awareness of the hotel brands through community involvement and partnership development
- Lead digital marketing initiatives, local promotions, and advertising campaigns
- Execute social media strategy for each hotel
General & Administrative
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives and support ad hoc projects as needed (unexpected moments can occur when we have to pull together to get a task done)
- Maintain a thorough understanding of market trends and competitor strategies
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Hospitality, or a related field
- 3–5 years of progressive sales and marketing experience in the hospitality industry
